Who Uses The Agent On Demand Service?
-
Our service is geared towards senior level technology talent or senior level talent in the general tech ecosystem. If you’ve received a job offer (or, ideally, more than one) with a starting salary of $150,000 or higher, you’re eligible for this service. We’re not recruiters, we don’t help you find the right job, we just help ensure that once you’ve gotten an offer(s) your interests are defined and well represented.
-
What Is Your Negotiation Philosophy?
-
Our philosophy is geared around helping you identify what’s most important to you in a compensation package. We go far deeper than just pay and equity compensation, and we work with you to prioritize what you value most. We then provide a strategy for addressing these priorities with your prospective employer, and remain by your side with step by step guidance throughout the negotiation process.
-
Why Should I Work With You?
-
We have more than 25 years of hands on negotiation experience. We’ve negotiated on behalf of a wide variety of talent – from senior tech talent like you, to Grammy winning, multi-platinum performers, and everything in between. We understand how to structure a negotiation so that you don’t alienate your future employer, but you’re still able to obtain the terms that best reflect your needs and wants. Most of all, we have spent our careers protecting talent from those that look to exploit them. We care deeply about this work. We believe fundamentally that all great talent deserves great representation, and we’ve made a career out of providing exactly that type of representation.
-
How Does The Negotiation Process Work?
-
Once you have an offer, or multiple offers, at a starting salary level of $150,000 or greater (we may consider representing you if your offer is a bit lower, but we will evaluate that on a case by case basis) in hand, you’re ready to get started with us. From there we help you with the following:
- Prioritization – We facilitate a process to help you identify what is most important to you in a job offer. We lay out all the facets that most people overlook and get you to weigh them against each other so you can get clear on what will improve your life. We don’t believe in “one-size-fits-all” compensation packages. We help employers see the value in working with a prospective candidate to achieve what’s most important to them in a job offer. Employment offers need to be about more than just salary and equity and we work with you to make sure you’re considering all of your options.
- Deep Dive – We dive into the data with you, and create a few different scenarios (the minimum offer you’d be willing to accept all the way to your dream offer). We also assess your risk profile. It’s a very different process assisting someone who is trying to get the best possible offer from among 5 suitors, versus someone who is currently unemployed and in need of a fast deal closure.
- Strategy – Based on a comparison of your existing offer(s) and the overall landscape, we identify how much improvement is needed to get you to a minimum threshold which is satisfactory, as well as moving to the ideal circumstances.
- Tactics – We work with you to compose the right messaging that will move the offer(s) toward your specific goals.
- React and reassess – Based on the reaction from your prospective employer(s) to our outreach, we will assess and pivot our strategy and tactics as necessary. We will work with you throughout the entire process with the ultimate goal of getting final offers in the best shape possible.

What Does This Service Cost?
-
Agents in entertainment and sports typically charge between 10% -20% of their client’s gross compensation. Recruiters are typically paid 15% – 25% of total first-year cash compensation. Attorneys charge anywhere from $250 -$1,000 per hour and charge a retainer at the outset of engaging with them. In other industries, some charge 10% of cash comp for the life of employment.
We have blended all of these compensation models in creating our fee structure– we charge a non-refundable retainer that is applied towards a percentage of your first year’s cash compensation (based on the sum total of first year’s salary and any bonuses).
For more unique/edge case offers (acquihires, team hires, renegotiation, etc) we will work with you and create a compensation package for us that fits the negotiation required
-
What Happens If My Job Offer Falls Apart?
-
Though it doesn’t often happen, offers can fall apart for a variety of reasons. Should this occur, the retainer fee you pay us will be good for any new job offer you receive within four (4) months of the prior offer falling apart. Just circle back to us during that time frame and we’ll apply your retainer to negotiating this new offer.
-
What Are Some Companies You’ve Negotiated Employment Contracts With?
-
We have helped our clients negotiate employment packages with too many companies to name them all, but here are a few:
Facebook, Google, Stripe, HSBC, Apple, Salesforce, Instacart, FireEye, Attune, Palo Alto Networks, and many more.
-
Do I Still Need A Lawyer?
-
We always recommend that any employment package be reviewed by a lawyer prior to your signing. If you don’t have a good attorney, we work with a bunch of them, and we’re happy to refer you to someone great.
-
What Outcome is likely?
-
While there are no guarantees, we have a great track record of creating far more value than we cost (even if you only stay in the job for a single year). In some cases, we have more than doubled cash comp from first offer to closing.
That said, because we fight for whatever matters most to you (i.e. added vacation time or remote working) as we do for salary, equity and bonuses, the improvements we make are not always measured in percentage increases. By way of example, a parent who gets to work from home on Fridays may value that as priceless compared with additional cash or equity.
